Gardening in Tucson, Arizona is not easy. The last frost is about mid-March. Temperatures reach >100 degrees by the end of May, leaving you about two months to get your garden started before it gets scorched. By the end of September, it’s cooling down a bit and the plants come back, only to be killed by the frost in November.
So, this year, our goal was to start our garden, inside, early enough such that we can have well established plants before the temperature reaches 100. Being inside means less sunlight and dealing with the cat, however, so we will see how it goes.
Seventeen different varieties of vegetable, all started January 30/31. Seeds from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds.
